Confidentiality
Counselling within the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Student Counselling Service is conducted in accordance with the This means that everything that you speak about within a counselling session will be confidential and will not be discussed with anyone else without your permission. The only time that this would not be the case, would be if your counsellor was concerned for your safety, or thought that you, or someone else, were at some sort of risk. The counsellor would always strive to discuss this with you, but in rare or extreme cases this might not always be possible.
There are also times when students want us to communicate with other professional agencies, or members of University academic staff on their behalf. This will be fully discussed in a session, and only occur with the explicit consent of the student. This may happen when you have mitigating circumstances or wish to take a temporary suspension of studies.
