What if other issues affected my performance?

If there is something beyond your control which has been impacting your studies, you may find it useful to speak to one of the following:

Mitigating Circumstances

Your Personal Tutor or Student Advisor can support you if you need to apply for Mitigating Circumstances. Mitigating Circumstances can be taken into account if you believe your assessment results will be, or were impacted by your circumstances and will not be an accurate representation of your abilities. Please make sure you apply by the relevant deadline

Academic Appeals

An Academic Appeal is a formal request by a student for the review of a decision made by the University on their progression, assessment or academic award. There are valid and invalid grounds for an appeal. Appeals made on the basis of academic judgment (for example, thinking that your work deserves a higher grade) or not being aware of published procedures are not grounds for an appeal. If you are thinking of making an appeal you are advised to check you have valid reasons and to seek advice from the Advice Hub.

Disability

If you have a disability or think you might have a disability, you can contact the Disability Services by emailing disability@hw.ac.uk. They can support you by putting reasonable adjustments in place.
