Tuition fees

Continuing students

All students are charged tuition fees for their programme of study each academic year. All tuition fees are subject to revision and will usually change each academic year. Students taking additional courses may be charged an additional fee per course. You will find the tuition fee schedule for your School/Institute for the current Academic Year.

Dubai and Malaysia Campus students should refer to the tuition fee information for their campuses.

All queries regarding tuition fees should be directed to the your School/Institute in the first instance.

This is a fee charged to cover any additional costs incurred by practical work carried out by the student, not covered by the tuition fee

This is the fee charged to retake any of the above.

Repeating a Course or Additional Course Fee
This is a fee charged per course.

Enrolment Fee for Students Affiliating to the University
The fee charged for continued affiliation to the University for students completing their Thesis or Dissertation.
*Standard fees: Year 4 £130 & Year 5+ £500. For students in receipt of external funding e.g. from Research Councils or other government agencies where the period of funding exceeds three years, the fees are: First 12 months following funded period £130 & all subsequent years £500.

Visiting Scholar Fee
The fee charged to enrol a visiting scholar and give them access to facilities. *Full year or up to 6 months.

Thesis Submission Fee (DEng, DLitt, DSc, PhD (by Published Research))
The thesis submission fee for the awards mentioned above.

Thesis Resubmission Fee (Masters, PhD)
The thesis re-submission fee for the awards mentioned above.

Processing Applications for Exemptions
This fee covers applications for the exemptions from courses

Intermediate and Exit Award Fee (except Edinburgh Business School)
The University will charge students who are eligible and wish to receive an award.

Administrative charges

Late Enrolment Fee
Will be charged by the University if a student fails to enrol at the allocated time. Students can apply for an exemption to this fee on certain grounds.

Replacement Student ID Card
The University will levy an administration charge to replace a lost or damaged ID card.

Replacement Degree Certificate
The University will charge graduates to replace their degree certificate. A copy certificate will be issued unless the original can be produced. Produced by the Edinburgh campus.
