Mixed group planning

The 2nd ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Learning & Teaching Colloquium: ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Graduate Attributes

In April 2016, the University held its second Learning and Teaching Colloquium with the theme of “Graduate Attributesâ€.  The event was well-attended by some 60 academic staff from across the Edinburgh campus with a video link to colleagues in Dubai.  Delegates listened to presentations by keynote speakers from Glasgow University and had an opportunity to discuss their own responses to ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s Graduate Attributes (GAs).

The Glasgow experience of supporting students’ transitions to the professions through the development of profiles on Linked-in gave much food for thought.  Delegates said of the event that it was “a significant start†to the process of engaging staff and students at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ with the University’s GAs .

The speakers and hosts were:

  • Prof John Sawkins, Deputy Principal for Learning & Teaching
  • Dr Dickon Copsey, College of Social Sciences Employability Officer, University of Glasgow
  • Dr Irene Malcolm, Academic Programme Leader, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½

The aims of the Colloquium were:

  • Group discussions to explore challenges and opportunities on communicating and embedding Graduate Attributes at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½
  • Sharing of best practice from Graduate Attribute project, University of Glasgow
  • Understanding ELIR recommendations and timescales for implementation

The four ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Graduate Attributes are:

  • Specialist
  • Creative
  • Professional
