What made you choose to study your programme with ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Online?

I have wanted to complete a master’s degree for years and, working in HR, I thought a would be a good fit. When I started looking into my options, I realised there are no part-time, in-person programmes available in my city. If I wanted to complete a similar master’s programme in-person, I would need to relocate and that just wasn’t an option, so I started looking into online programmes. Heriot Watt’s online programme seemed to provide a good balance of quality, flexibility, and affordability.

Overall, how has your experience studying online been so far?

I’ve had a great experience so far. The subject matter is very interesting and the course assessments have been highly relevant to my work in HR. The combination of readings, discussion boards and videos allows us to learn in an engaging manner. I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable distance-learning can be!

What aspects of your degree really appeal to you?

I work in HR but my undergrad was in Education so the idea of pursuing a master’s related to business is appealing. I chose Organisational Psychology to give me the ability to apply evidence-based psychological theories and models to my work in human resources.

What impact has your degree had on your career so far?

It is still early – I’ve only completed two courses over the last eight months – but I can see how the subject matter applies to my day-to-day work. As I work through the course material, I’m sure it will inform the day-to-day decisions I make as an HR professional.

What challenges have you faced while studying and has the flexible nature of ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Online helped with any of these challenges?

The flexible nature of the programme is a real advantage. There have been times when I’ve needed to travel for work or personal reasons, and I’ve still been able to access my course content in a way that would not be possible in a conventional, in-person programme. Plus, being able to complete course assessments three different times in a year allows me to work through the material at a pace that works for me.

What would you say to people considering studying at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Online?

If you’re considering an online programme, I would definitely look into ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½. The application process is simple and straightforward, the quality of the course content is excellent, and the tuition is reasonable. The affordable tuition and straightforward application process make post-secondary education accessible.
